Description
The former Roman Catholic church at Derrycunnihy, County Kerry built in the last quarter of the 19th century, perhaps on the instructions of local landowner Valentine Browne, fourth Earl of Kenmare. The church is almost set into the rocky surroundings and has an interesting polygonal apse. It was damaged by fire in the 1950s and fell slowly into disrepair. However, the state has now begun restoration work on the property, which is home to a number of protected species including Lesser Horseshoe Bats and Barn Owls.
