Artist's Description

We cross this life in a blur like the man on this bridge, which has stood solid and timeless through history.
The old road from Glengariff to Castletown Berehaven crossed the Kista stream at the Aghakista Bridge. The disused humped-backed bridge may date to the 17th century. It is narrow and has no parapets to allow laden packhorses to pass easily. But when a new road was built the bridge was replaced by the early 19th century Brandy Hall Bridge downstream where the Kista stream enters the sea.
THE BEARA PENINSULA:
In the far South West of Ireland the tides and winds of the Atlantic beat upon the mountains of the Slieve Miskish and Caha ranges. This is Beara. It is a hard land of mist and legends and enchanting beauty whose landscape, myths and magical light have inspired poets and artists across the ages.
