Description
I started chasing the rainbow on the first of February and following the stream I found the first daffodil of Spring. In Ireland this day traditionally marks the end of winter darkness and the beginning of Spring and New Life. It is also the feast day of Saint Brigid, Ireland's only female patron saint, who was born a Christian slave on this day in 450 or 451, and died on the same day in 528.
THE BEARA PENINSULA:
In the far South West of Ireland the tides and winds of the Atlantic beat upon the mountains of the Slieve Miskish and Caha ranges. This is Beara. It is a hard land of mist and legends and enchanting beauty whose landscape, myths and magical light have inspired poets and artists across the ages.
